This EP release, ‘Checkererd Past’, is my fourth public offering as a singer songwriter. While I like to experiment stylistically now and then, the music I write for myself as performer tends to be more in the Classic rock and Americana styles. As singer and guitarist (primarily) I tend to lean into my classic rock and blues roots. I/we hope you find the songs interesting and most of all, fun to listen to.
In the course of recording these six songs I got some great help, starting with pedal steel tracks from my friend and awesome guitar tech, Larry Cragg, on two songs. Backup vocal support throughout provided by longtime friend and occasional bandmate, Willow van den Hoek. Sax parts are played by Chris Del Camino, a talented young musician and songwriter. Last but not least, my co-writer on ‘Need To Be Right’, Mike Duke, shares the lead vocal on that song. Mike has had a long and extensive music career and is a great songwriter; more than a few of his songs have made it into the charts by name artists.
